Brookes leads R&G charge at Thruxton!

Josh Brookes and the R&G supported Anvil Hire Yamaha team claimed their debut MCE British Superbike Championship victory at Thruxton, topping a successful weekend for R&G at our home round.

Running a special R&G livery, Josh Brookes showed his pace throughout practice but Saturday afternoon’s qualifying session saw the R&G backed RAF Regular & Reserve Kawasaki of Jake Dixon take a stunning pole position, with Brookes second. An enthralling opening race saw Josh go on to claim the Anvil Hire Yamaha squad’s maiden victory whilst Dixon claimed second. Alongside both riders using a range of R&G crash protection, they also use the R&G-distributed BMC Air Filters.

Race two looked set to be a repeat performance, but disaster would strike on the penultimate lap when Josh crashed from the lead. Dixon went on to claim second whilst fellow R&G rider Leon Haslam made a welcome return to the podium in third.

Further success from R&G riders and teams came from across the paddock, with Tom Carne claiming pole position in the Hel Performance British Motostar Championship before Tom Booth-Amos and Jake Archer would take a win and podium apiece in the two races. Tom Oliver claimed a strong third place in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 race whilst Joe Collier claimed a win and a third in the Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup races.

Having impressed throughout the weekend, scoring two top ten finishes and claiming pole position for the second Pirelli National Superstock 1000 race, James Whitham named Carl Phillips the R&G Rookie of the Meeting.

Following the racing on Sunday, it was tragically announced that True Heroes Racing’s Mark Fincham had succumbed to his injuries following an accident in Superstock 1000 race. Since 2013, we’ve been lucky enough to be associated with the fantastic work the True Heroes Racing Team do and our thoughts are with both the team and Mark’s family and friends.
