To cut a long story short, fitted them on Friday morning - used them on Friday afternoon!!! So glad I did otherwise a lot more damage to sort out!!
I'm just glad I fitted the uprated top engine protectors before my mishap at the Dubai Autodrome. The R1 slid across the track with more grace than I did!! The R&G Paddock Stand Bobbin and Bar-End took the knock as well as the engine protectors on the right hand side of my 2008 R1 leaving only relatively minor cosmetics to be considered replacing rather than huge hole in my engine casing had I not bothered that Friday Morning!!
I was a riding god for two and a half sessions of that trackday only to be caught out by an adverse camber coming out of the hairpin on the gas where there's a annoying bump in the middle of the corner; main influencing factor was the standard road rubber instead of opting for the super-sticky Pirelli Super Corsa III's like those around me in the fast group!!
Lesson well-and-truly learned - "make sure you're protected by R&G if your rubber lets you down!!!"
