Just a quick note of thanks for your most excellent crash protectors which I’m less than happy to announce I’ve ‘product tested’ for you.
Dusk, 40-50 mph unlit rural left hander, loose chippings from an unsigned road repair (they’re becoming a theme), me and the nice shiny ’06 R1 part company, and off it slides into the sunset leaving a nice long scratch in the tarmac. As I lay in the road all I could think was “oooh….that’s going to cost”.
My mate picked the bike up and was astounded by how much of a beating the protectors had taken (top/bottom protectors’ mounting bolts slightly bent and nylons worn half down, fork slider bobbin worn half down, swingarm cotton reel scuffed). Damage to the bike however was limited to cosmetics (plastic scrapes/cracks with the only completely trashed item being the front indicator) and it was ridden home by a friend.
Had it not been for the protectors I’d probably be looking at trashed fork-leg/caliper, clip-on, tank, engine cover, frame, peg and gear lever, swing arm, exhaust……… a write off.
Needless to say a full new set will be on order soon and several mates are now in the process of updating their letters to Santa.
I’m keenly awaiting your future line in foot, knee, ass, shoulder, elbow, hand, and head sliders appearing on the market.
