"Just to say thank you for your product, having purchased a brand new Suzuk GSXR at the end of 2000 I fitted crash protectors from yourself - which undoubtedly paid for themselves last week when I dropped my bike whilst negotiating a roundabout. My bike slid away and I hit the tarmac. When I picked the bike up, to my surprise it was still in one piece. It suffered light abrasions to the mirror, front indicator and can, the fairing remained totally unscathed and with a bit of wet and dry paper and some back to black plastic cleaner you'd never know she had ever been over. I cannot praise your crash protectors enough, and for less than the price of a tinted visor anyone that cares for their machine should put these at the top of their accessory list before taking to the road - they look the business too."

Andy Eastwell

"I bought your crash bobbins at the NEC show last November for my CBR 600fs. And yesterday had the opportunity to try them out. I was doing about 40mph round a left hander and the front tucked under resulting in a lowsider, having decided to let go of the bike to watch it spin off i picked my self up, pick up the bike, one bobbin half gone left hand engine casing scratched and a scratch on the the s/arm.

THE BEST PIECE OF GEAR EVER BOUGHT!"

Jason Robinson

"Further to my conversation with the MD last week at the "Alley Pally" show, I would like to recommend your protectors to anyone who has a bike! Having heard about your crash protectors from a well known magazine, I decided to fit them to my Gixer 600 - better to be safe than sorry, and I am certainly grateful that I did. Only a month after fitting, I decided to have a go at knee sliding on the local deserted roundabout which was quite a bad idea. I hit a patch of gravel and watched my pride and joy slip from beneath me and continue to slide to the kerb. I ran over, expecting to see my in pieces but the crash protector had taken the brunt of the damage. Apart from my ego, the only damage was a very small scuff on my 'old' exhaust and a very slight scuff to the lower right fairing. And if that is not enough, I was in the process of replacing the damaged protector when, on a camping trip, my bike blew over in the wind - once again, no damage to my bike, just a scuffed and scratched left protector! - a matching pair!! I would strongly recommend your product to ANYBODY who owns a bike, especially accident prone people like me, to buy your crash protectors.

Congratulations on a FANTASTIC product!"

Anthony Tittershill

"After speaking to Ian last week I just wanted to reiterate what I'd said to him. Basically, your crash protectors have just saved me the best part of a months wages. Last year I had a low speed slide & scraped the side of my R6; the final insurance bill came to over £1,200 (new panels & headlamp assembly). It means that this year my insurance premium has nearly doubled & so has my excess. A little belated perhaps, but I fitted a full set of protectors as soon as I got the bike back. Last week I had another low speed slide, when I went down on a patch of diesel (Thank you very much farmer Palmer!!). This time however it's only cost me a new set of protectors and a touch-up of a small paint scrape on the pillion seat fairing. To anyone who's vaguely thinking about fitting these protectors on their bike "STOP THINKING AND FIT THEM". OK you may have to drill a couple of small (approx 20mm) holes in the fairing for an R6,(I don't think you need to on most other models though) but it's a small price to pay, believe me.."

"I was recently doing a tight 'U' turn, on difficult terrain when I stalled the engine of my immaculate Triumph Sprint RS. The inevitable happened - and there was my bike laying in the road. Fortunately, six months earlier I had Crash Protectors fitted by R&G. These are more robust version of the 'Mushrooms' sold by a number of outlets, and are specially designed for a given model. In the case of the RS, they are fitted directly to the engine mountings. I was delighted to discover that the damage was minimal - cracked indicator cover (still operating), tip of foot-rest broken off, minor scratches to can and bar-end. In fact the only real damage was to the Crash Protector and my self esteem. I was back on my bike and away in five minutes. Considering the small cost of Crash Protectors and the damage and inconvenience they save in the smallest spill, I'm surprised that more riders don't fit them. They even look good!"

"About 2 weeks ago I was out for a Sunday morning blast on my Fireblade down towards Petworth. On my way back I went for a knee down on a deserted roundabout and took a bit of a slide on some loose gravel. The bike went down fairly gently, but proceeded to slide until it met with the kerb on the other side. I was expecting the worst when I lifted the bike up, but the crash protector had done its job and I had got away with a bent brake pedal and scrape marks on the clutch cover plate and lower fairing panel. I've already replaced the nylon bush from the crash protector, and would recommend them to anyone with a sports bike."

Steve Lewi

"I wanted to drop you a quick note to say thank you for supplying me with a set of crash protectors for my CBR900. Recently I had an accident on my bike and was only travelling at 25mph when a bird flew into my path. The instinct was to avoid it, due to this I lost the front end of my bike, and went sliding down the middle of the road. If it had not been for the protectors, which cost me approx £40.00, the cost to the repairs on my bike would have been phenomenal, probably running to thousands. So thank you for all your recommendations and advice on each visit."

Mr I Holt

"May I take this opportunity in saying just how impressed with your crash protectors I am. Recently, whilst riding my Y2K Blade at the Nurburgring race circuit I was leaving a section called Bergwerk, a 135 degree banked right-hander. Those following put my speed at around 90mph. On leaving the bend I caught a damp patch with a little too much throttle dialled in and this resulted in a rather nasty high side, which ended up with the bike sliding down the track on its left side. The crash protector bent and wore half its length away, but saved the rest of the bike. Unbelievably, there was only cosmetic damage and I was able to ride away, I kid you not! I would not have believed this without seeing it. Needless to say I have just ordered another pair and cannot praise your product enough!"

Jon Taylor

"So there I was, hustling to work on a dull Monday morning, when suddenly everyone in front brakes real quick. I brake hard, perhaps a little too hard. I remember looking through my legs as the tail of my bike goes through the vertical, then WHAAM! I'm lying in the middle of the road and my previously immaculate SV650 is lying there on its side next to me. With a bit of help I lift up the bike, preparing to see that lovely Micron race system scratched, if not flattened. BUT NO!! Thanks to that kindly soul who sold me R&G Crash Protectors at Brands Hatch WSB it's untouched! The only damage was: mirror, brake lever, footpeg and hanger. Tank, exhaust, screen, side fairing and frame all undamaged. Thanks guys you saved me a fortune."

Justin Hayzelden

"Just a quick line to say how impressed I am with R&G crash protectors. During cleaning my blade, it rolled off it's stand and only sustained minimal damage to bar ends and rear sets. The rest of the bike was untouched as everything was taken on by the crash protector. Thanks R&G"

Steven Slater

"After dropping my beloved R1 last night on loose chippings, I would like to take this opportunity in thanking you and your staff for your excellent product which has saved me the expense of two fairings and a new rear set. Also thank Ian on my behalf for making sure I have a new fairing protector to fit my bike within 24 hours, as I would not ride anywhere without them."

Tim

"I visited your place a couple of weeks ago where your fellows fitted crash protectors to my (blue/black) Thunderace.

Best £50I've ever spent! Why?....I got on the gas too much and too early coming out of Goddards hairpin at Donington Park. Thanks to your protectors, minimal damage was done to my bike.

My ego, however, is much sorely damaged! Tons of people saw the accident from the pit wall (how embarrasing) and I'm sure will soon be placing their orders...."

Ian Beer

"After visiting WSB at Brands Hatch last year, I came across your stand and was interested in your bike protectors, as I had just purchased my TL1000R. These bikes are a little on the heavy side and expensive to repair if dropped! After purchasing my crash protectors from R&G, low and behold, two days later, I dropped my bike after the front wheel caught a bag and slid out from under me.

I could feel my wallet getting very light as I looked at my pride and joy lying on the ground! After getting help to lift the bike up, I was amazed to see that there was not even a scratch anywhere apart from the crash protector.

Guys, I am impressed with your product and it was money very well spent. After telling you what had happened, you even tided up the damaged crash protector and everything is like new again. Your customer service is the best and a credit to the company. Anyone who thinks that they do not need these protectors, (as I did once) need to think twice. Thank you again."

"Your crash protectors are brilliant!

I did not expect to be testing their durability within one week of having them fitted, however a corner, 50mph and black ice had their own ideas.

A shower of sparks saw my my pride and joy commence a long slide down the road as I bumped across the wet grassy verge.

Dread turned to amazement as I picked the bike up. The can was minimally damaged, just a largish flat spot where it had touched down. The belly pan and side panel and was also grazed. Howe

ver the top fairing, rear fairing, headlights screen, brake lever, mirror, in fact everything else was absolutely untouched. The assessor was so impressed at the reduced damage the protectors afforded he suggested that the insurance companies should offer discounts for having them fitted. Exactly what I had thought especially as another £1,000 could have been added to the repair cost if I hadn't had them.

So, thanks for a great product, from one very satisfied if slightly bruised customer!

Mike Ramseyer

"I have just had some crash protectors fitted to my Blade. They are cool and I hope I never have to use them.

For those of you that have no idea what I am talking about, I will elaborate. Crash protectors are basically bits of plastic that look a bit like old fashioned roller skate wheels. They bolt to the frame and poke through the fairing. In the event that the bike goes down the road without it's rider on it's side, then hopefully the panels will be protected from serious damage.

I got mine from rg-racing.com. They fit on the top engine mounts. The fairing had to be modified to get them on (a 1 inch hole was drilled) which they did for me. The year 2000 Blade doesn't need the hole. These are better than many of the crash protectors you may have seen for 2 reasons. Firstly they are a lot cheaper and secondly they bolt to the frame rather than the fairing, those that bolt to the fairing may stop the fairing getting scratched but will bend the fairing brackets or crack the fairing instead."

"Just thought I'd say hi. Enjoying the bike - thankfully, haven't had to use your crash protectors yet and I hope I don't ever have to!

However, my mate has - he bought a pair from you at the NEC Bike Show for his GSX-R 600. He's been biking for about 2 months more than me. He arrived at a roundabout with lots of commitment but little talent (& judgement) and dropped it. Thanks to your protectors he only took off the brake lever and scraped the exhaust - £50well spent I'd say."

Anthony Dunn

"Thanks for the crash protectors and the fitting advice you gave me on the phone.

I have now fitted them and it probably took me about an hour all in!

I guess when I change my bike you'll be hearing from me again!"

Steve Wilson

"I am very pleased with the quality, and fit of the R&G Crash Protectors. R&G have taken care in their design and location to ensure that in the event of a get-off they will give maximum protection to the bike. They look great on my Triumph 9551 Daytona and I am confident that due to the design and method of fitting, that should I be unfortunate enough to drop my bike they will save me the cost of a new fairing and radiator. Here's hoping that this is one accessory that I don't get to try out!"

Graeme Sharp

"About a week ago I left my bike, a Suzuki GSX-R600, in the centre of York, and somebody decided it would be fun to sit on it. When I returned to the bike, it was lying on its side. But, because I had fitted your crash protectors to my bike, all I had was one little scratch on the nearside wing mirror. As far as I am concerned buying your crash protectors, was the best £50I have ever spent.

Dealing with your company was brilliant and an enjoyable experience, I only hope I can do more business with you "

Chris Collins

I would just like to say thank you for an excellent product.  This morning my bike went down on its r/h side and slid along the road after hitting diesel  on a roundabout. The end result was a scuffed lower fairing, snapped footpeg and scuffed exhaust, without the bungs I would dread to think of the damage.  I was also wondering if it would be possible to purchase just one crash bung for the r/h side as it was wreaked in the crash.

"My Suzuki GSXR750WY was involved in an accident last year - only my machine was involved, skidding and sliding on a wet road surface from a speed of 40-45mph. Machine landed on its left hand side on a grass verge and serious damage to the fairing and other parts of the machine was averted solely because of your crash protectors, fitted to either side of the machine. Damage confined to foot peg, indicator, mirror - the nearside crash protector was undamaged."

Thanks again.

David Chapman

"Track day at Brands I low sided my MV Agusta with about 70 mph. Thanks to the crash protectors the damage to my bike was minor. Some scratches at the side panel and at the seat and a broken break lever that was all. The protectors did a good job and saved me a lot of money. Have to replace the upper left protector including the bolt and the whole lower protector > including the bolt. I hope you will soon produce a fork protector for the MV. I will be a client."

Daniel Berner

"Thank you for the speedy service you provided recently in shipping my crash protectors to Belgium. They are now fitted and look excellent. If I had them fitted from new they would have saved me quite a bit of expense when I had to drop my bike to avoid a white transit. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending you guys (and do at every opportunity). PS they were fitted using a 19mm cutter rather than the 16mm recommended

I have just returned from 2 days on track at Nogaro in Southern France.  I fitted a pair of crash bungs to my GSXR1000 when bought from new some 18 months ago; more recently I purchased a set of paddock stand crash bobbins.  Whilst at Nogaro I managed to throw my beloved bike down the track on its left hand side in the rain.  The bike slid half the length of the start finish straight before coming to rest.  I was amazed to find I had suffered only superficial damage to the left hand lower panel, tail unit and left hand mirror.  The rear-set footrest was still intact as was the left hand clip on, clutch lever and indicator.  I returned to the track for the next session and rode back to the UK during the following 2 days.

I am sure that this will be logged away with many other similar stories.   However, I would just like to say that your products are invaluable.  The paddock stand bobbin certainly saved my swinging arm from serious damage and both bungs combined did a fantastic job of protecting my machine from certain carnage.  I will be ordering replacements for the damaged bungs ASAP.

Hi to all at R&G.

Just a line to say how much your crash protectors are the absolute bees-knees. Having overcooked a tight (hold on, tightening...!!!) left-hander and being
forced to take a wider line, I found myself heading for trouble in the shape of the verge on the other side of the road. The bottom line is that 2 minutes later, I got a bump-start, and was back on my way. The crash protectors I got from you 2 weeks earlier saved everything - only the left-side engine case was
scraped lightly, but there was no way you would ever say it went "down the road", as they say.

Many thanks to a great product and to the after-market
help in providing a new bar to replace the bent one on my still minting (HOW?!?!) ZX-6. Wisest buy in biking I've ever made.

Please feel free to show this on your site.

Regards, Dave Ryan

Unfortunately we've had our first major spill this season, GSXR unloaded at over 100mph last weekend at Silverstone.
However, can't praise the crash protectors enough. Wore down the block to the bolt head, but certainly saved the upper fairing, engine cases and frame spar (although the spill did destroy your stickers on the lowers!).

I dont know if you would want my testimonial, but basically tight left hander, back spun up and rolled away from me. 30 foot slide on its left hand slide. Screen was smashed by front subframe getting bent (it went down on its mirror for a duration), both indi's scratched, generator casing mildly touched down and a bit of fairing rub (ok a lot on rear cowl) and bent clutch and gear lever, and foot peg smashed off, so a reasonably severe incident.

But thanks to the R+G's which wore down a bit on top but mostly underneath (looks like an arrow now) the engine casing was fine, so i got to ride it home, whack on a spare footpeg and bend a few bits, and its perfectly fine.

I would just like to say thank you, and how glad i am i took the plunge and paid someone to fit them (£60 - drilling involved) rather then leaving them to fester in my garage. They had literally been on a week.

Regards, Richard

Sir/Madam,

I fitted your crash protectors to my SV1000S and following a rather fast highside on track which broke my shoulder and shoulder blade I can testify that your product is first class.  The actual damage to the bike is limited to a couple of hundred quid - rather than the write off it would've been but for the protector.  The frame, engine, swingarm etc are all untouched.  All present at the trackday were amased at the lack of damage and the effectiveness of your product (which we're convinced stopped the bike from flipping by grinding along the protector).

Could you please advise if it is possible for me to purchase a single black plastic protector to screw into the left hand side mount of the bike (which is also still in one piece) to replace the damaged one?

If you want any pictures of the damage for business purposes I could get some taken.
